Random is a Vorticular Entity or, colloquially speaking, a Vort. Her species is known as The Vortex Collective.

The Vortex Collective is a race of hyper-intelligent, nie-omnipotent pan-dimensional entities. They inhabit The Vortex, which is the place in which all points in the multiverse collide – any dimension in the entire multiverse, any point in the space-time continuum, can be accessed from The Vortex. The Vortex is a part of all universes but is in itself no universe. The Vortex is devoid of all space and time. While in The Vortex a Vort would percieve fragmentary and fleeting images of all the dimensions of the multiverse.

The Vortex Collective, like The Vortex itself is part of all universes but belongs to none. They can assume any form they choose but are of themselve insubstantial and non-corporeal. They have no true form, true nature or true selves but become whatever they choose to be in a given moment. In effect they can be anything but are nothing – technically they do not exist.

Vorticular Entities travel to various worlds and universes in their assumed identities for the sake of experience and for entertainment. They interact with the inhabitants of the worlds they visit but generally do not use their abilities to interfere in the development of these worlds. They do not try to "fix" things or "right" what may be seen as "wrongs" – they are generally amoral and simply experience the worlds they visit without making any attempt to remake them in their own image. They appreciate the complexity and diversity of the multiverse.

Random is a Vorticular Entity who has, for reasons unknown to her, been abandoned on Earth and trapped in human form. She was abandoned as a child, in the form of a human child – thus she has believed herself to be human most of her life and is only now beginning to understand that she is something else. She has felt alienated from humanity her entire life – now she has finally begun to consider the possibility that she is really an alien.

Throughout her life Random has felt detached from the material world around her and has always felt, if not known that she was not part of it. She tends to withdraw into her own inner world and is struck by the vast chasm between imagination and reality – since her true species can transform imagination into reality the gap between human imagination and reality feels very wrong and has caused her much distress. Unconsciosuly she has been trying to emulate her species ability to turn imagination into reality her entire life, which is why she has grown into a writer and a visual artist.

She is gradually becoming aware of what she really is now and is attempting to explore her inhumanity in her art. She still has no idea of how to use her power, where her home is, or how to return.

She fears she may never discover her home or her true nature, but her greatest fear is that she will find The Vortex only to discover that her lifetime on Earth has made her an alien to her own kind as well, and will ultimately belong nowhere. . .

The Vortex Collective: A race of hyper-intelligent, nye-omnipotent pan-dimensional entities who inhabit The Vortex who travel throughout the multiverse assuming various forms and having no true form of their own.

The Vortex: Home of The Vortex Collective. The place in which all points in the multiverse collide and from which any dimension, place, or time can be accessed. It is devoid of space, time or substance.

Vorticular: Of The Vortex Collective or having qualities which mimic the abilities/ imaginative powers of The Vortex Collective.

Vorticular Entity: An individual member of The Vortex Collective.

Vort: Colloquial term for Vorticular Entity.

Vorticularity: The nature of a Vorticular Entity as it refers to their imaginative powers.

Vortical: Describes the thought processes of a Vorticular Entity. On Earth there is linear and lateral thinking, Vortical thinking transcends even lateral thinking by dismissing any sort of rational thought process altogether and merely jumping from one idea to the next in an entirely random and chaotic fashion.

Vorticality: The nature of a Vorticular Entity as it refers to their thought processes.

Vorticicity: The nature of a Vorticular Entity as it refers to their personality traits (ie. Their general aloofness from the material universe, amorality, and position of non-interference in the events of universes they visit). While a human’s actions may reveal her humanity, a Vort’s would reveal her vorticicity. Vorticicity is the true essence of The Vortex Collective.

Vorticicitous: Adjective to describe a being or action which displays vorticicity.
